Third Annual Young Birder Symposium

In conjunction with Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods and the Lake County Forest Preserves, Illinois Young Birders is excited to announce our third annual Young Birder Symposium on Saturday, August 25th. Join us for a day of birding, presentations by young birders and professionals, and art at Brushwood Center located in the Edward L. Ryerson Conservation Area in Riverwoods, Illinois.

7:30-8:45 am – Birding Field Trip (optional)
8:45-9:00 am – Event check-in
9:00 am-10:30 am – Youth presentations and Lake County Forest Preserves
10:30 am-11:30 am – Art reception
11:30 am-12:45 pm – Lunch
12:45-1:30 pm – Youth presentations
1:30-2:30 pm – Keynote speaker, TBD
2:30-3:00 pm – Wrap up

Call for Youth Speakers and Artists
The ILYB Symposium is designed to celebrate the skills of young people. To that end, we would love for everyone to participate. If you would like to exhibit artwork or speak at the event, please complete the following forms. We will review your submissions and selections will be chosen prior to the event.

  • $20/person (children and adults)
  • Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Your registration includes lunch for all and a youth event t-shirt.
