Limited to 24 participants. Please RSVP below.

Veteran “Loon Ranger,” David B. Johnson will lead us around the Chain O’ Lakes area in search of loons in Lake and eastern McHenry counties via a mini-coach bus. We often hear and see loons do a variety of calls and dances, foot flopping, and fish eating on the water on this trip with rafts of 30 or more loons on each lake, staging their migration north to their breeding grounds just after the ice melts on the area’s glacial lakes. Almost all the loons we’ll be viewing are in high alternate breeding plumage sporting white spotted reptilian-like backs, ruby red eyes and white indented necklaces. Of course, we’ll see other waterfowl too. We’ll meet at Diamond Lake at 8am.

This trip is sold out.
