Chautauqua/Emiquon Shorebirds:
IOS Member Field Trip
We will meet at the parking area for the cross-dike at Lake Chautauqua. Follow the link for the meeting place on the morning of September 18th: https://bit.ly/3gPChjE
This birding hotspot is an amazing resting area for migrant shorebirds. The north and South pools of Emiquon, Goofy Ridge, and the cross-dike of Lake Chautauqua often holds the highest concentrations of shorebirds and waterfowl. Although the surfaces are primarily flat, participants will need to be prepared to traverse both rocky and muddy surfaces. Please join trip leaders Travis Mahan, Colin Dobson, and Jeff Bilsky (Tyler Funk) as they scour the mudflats for migrants. Limited to 30 participants.
*A second day option is available for a limited size group.
