Join Colin Dobson and Tyler Funk on a weekend trip to southern Illinois in search of Anhingas. The field trip is scheduled for June 29th with a possible extension into June 30th.

We will start the day looking for breeding warblers around Pomona, Illinois. Cerulean, Hooded, Yellow-throated, worm-eating, Ovenbird, and Louisiana Waterthrush will be a few of the warblers on our target list. Depending on the results of some prior scouting, we may then also take a detour for Mississippi Kite and Least Tern. After lunch, we will head over towards Cypress Creek to search for Anhingas. There is also a possibility of getting a glimpse at a nesting Barn Owl. We will finish the evening in Ferne Clyffe listening for Chuck-will’s-widow and Eastern Whip-poor-will.

Should we receive enough interest for a second day, we will put together an itinerary.

Marion, Illinois is one of the better options for an overnight stay if you are looking for accommodations. We will provide more information on a meeting time and place as we get closer to the event.

WE ARE NO LONGER TAKING REGISRATIONS. TRIP IS FULL!
